A Debt Relief Order (DRO) is a formal insolvency procedure that can help you to deal with your debts if you have very little or no assets and a low income.
To be eligible for a DRO, you must meet certain criteria, such as having debts of less than £20,000, being unable to repay your debts, and having no assets of value.
If you are granted a DRO, your debts will be frozen for 12 months. During this time, you will not be able to be chased for your debts or have any enforcement action taken against you.
After 12 months, your debts will be written off. However, there are some debts that are not covered by a DRO, such as student loans and child support payments.
